A batch of chocolate sold in Lidl stores in Ireland has been urgently recalled due to the possible presence of plastic pieces.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has requested that retailers remove the implicated batch of Fin Carré White Chocolate from sale and display recall notices at point-of-sale in Lidl stores.

Consumers are also advised not to eat the implicated batch of chocolate, which originated in Germany, and are being requested by Lidl to return the product to the store where it was purchased with or without a receipt.

Lidl apologised to their customers for any inconvenience caused and added that no other batches or Fin Carré products are affected, just the 100g sized batch with the best-before date of 16/10/2024.

Fin Carré White Chocolate from Lidl is not safe to consume

A statement on the Lidl website said: "Lidl Ireland is recalling the above batches of Fin Carré White Chocolate due to the possible presence of small plastic pieces.

"No other use batches or Fin Carré products are affected. Customers are advised not to consume the product. Instead, the product can be returned to the Lidl store where it was purchased with or without a receipt.

"Lidl wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused."
