A much-loved Dublin nightclub has announced that it will be shutting its doors for the last time, teasing rumours that a famous UFC star could be stepping in as the new owner.

The Shack, an iconic Tallaght venue on Old Blessington Road, shared a heartbreaking post on social media this week telling patrons that their beloved nightlife spot will no longer be open to the public from Saturday.

While patrons at the Dublin institution, which many will remember fondly as the Metro Bar, are understandably despondent at the news that their weekend haunt is no more, the bar has teased that a famous star might just be the new owner.

Although the Dublin pub has not revealed just who the UFC icon may be, it is rumoured that Conor McGregor will be taking over the role of owner, as the Crumlin native recently purchased property in the area.

Informing patrons of its final opening hours, The Shack wrote on Facebook: “With a heavy heart, I must share the news that our beloved pub and nightclub will be closing its doors this Saturday.

“It has been an incredible journey filled with laughter, music, and unforgettable moments.

“To our amazing DJs who brought life to our dance floors, the dedicated staff who poured their passion into every drink, the loyal customers who became like family, and the suppliers who kept our shelves stocked – thank you."

The Shack added: “Your contributions made this establishment more than just a business; it became a community.

“As we bid farewell, I'm thrilled to share that a new chapter awaits for this space. Rumour has it that a famous UFC star has acquired the building, bringing excitement and anticipation for what's to come.

“Thank you all for being part of our story. Your support has meant the world, and we'll cherish the memories created here forever.”
