Former Miss Ireland Andrea Roche is sitting on a cash pile of over €380,000 following a bumper year for her modelling agency, which also has a large number of social media influencers on its books.

AR Models Limited was set up by Roche in 2011, and is credited with discovering top talent such as Rosanna Davison, Roz Purcell, and Pippa O’Connor Ormond.

It became Ireland’s first influencer talent agency in 2013, and now manages a host of well-known social media stars.

The company made a profit of €224,061 last year, adding €172,379 to its cash pile, which stood at €383,151 at the end of 2022. Its retained earnings increased by almost 50% to €688,097 during the same period.

Roche, 45, is the sole shareholder in the firm, and is listed as a director along with her younger sister, Charlene.

The company had tangible assets worth €371,976 at the end of last year, which included buildings valued at €368,579.

It owed €620,357 to creditors, €114,416 of which related to VAT, corporation tax and PAYE.

The firm’s directors received remuneration of €106,123 during 2022, and employed three other people in the area of sales and marketing.

Roche was crowned Miss Ireland in 1998 and went on to compete in the Miss Universe pageant. She retired from modelling in 2008 and founded her talent agency three years later.

Speaking about her entrepreneurial acumen in 2020, Roche said she had always had a few small businesses “on the go” throughout her modelling career.

“Even when I was modelling in my early 20s, I also owned the franchises for Miss Ireland and Miss Universe Ireland pageants, and I was working as a stylist for years on TV3,” she recalled.

“There are interviews from 20 years ago saying that I will one day open a model agency and that has evolved into launching Ireland’s first blogger management agency.

“I am lucky that I have always known what I wanted to do for a career and to be working at something that I love. I work hard and it can be stressful but it is also satisfying at the same time.”
