A “full emergency” was declared on board a private aircraft on Sunday at Dublin Airport.

Three crew members were inside the plane when takeoff was aborted due to reports of smoke in the cockpit.

Emergency services at Dublin Airport were rushed to respond to the incident this afternoon and swiftly evacuated the crew on the aircraft, which had no passengers on board.

The private plane was subsequently towed under escort to the General Aviation area of the airport. There were also reports that some incoming flights to the hub faced minor delays when attempting to land as a result of the incident.

A spokesperson for daa, the operator of Dublin Airport confirmed this afternoon’s incident to the Irish Mirror: “A full emergency was declared at Dublin Airport this afternoon after a private aircraft with three crew on board aborted take-off due to reports of smoke in the cockpit.

“Dublin Airport’s emergency services responded and after an evacuation of the crew the aircraft was towed under escort to the General Aviation area of the airport.”
