Brian Dowling and Katja Mia have been announced as the new permanent presenters of The Six O’Clock Show on Virgin Media One.

Previous host Greg O’Shea announced last week that he was leaving the show – just days after his co-presenter Karen Koster also revealed her departure from the popular programme.

Speculation over the pair’s successors came to an end this evening with the announcement of Brian Dowling and Katja Mia as the show’s new stars.

TV and radio host Dowling has guest-presented on Virgin Media previously, and the Co Kildare native also fronts the channel’s new sustainable makeover series, The Salvage Squad.

Model and social-media influencer Katja Mia joined the Ireland AM weekend team last year, and has co-presented the show with Dowling in the past.

"I‘m absolutely delighted to be joining The Six O’Clock Show team permanently," said Dowling.

"I’m such a big fan of the show and have had a blast guest presenting on the Six Sofa, so I can’t wait to get stuck into presenting each weeknight, and with such a pro Katja joining me."

Mia was equally excited about her new role. "I’m delighted to become the new co-host on The Six O’Clock Show and join such a fantastic on-air team," she said.

"I’ll miss the Ireland AM team and my co-hosts Elaine and Martin, but I’ll be bringing everything I’ve learnt with me to my new presenting gig."

The Six O’Clock Show airs weeknights at 6pm on Virgin Media One and Virgin Media Player.

Announcing his departure from the show last week, former Love Island star Greg O’Shea declared: "I have some news myself. On Monday, people would have seen Karen Koster announce that she was leaving the Six O’Clock Show, and unfortunately I’m also going to be leaving.

"I think it’s the perfect chance for the Six O’Clock Show to mix things up and try something new.

"The team behind the Six O’Clock Show are honestly so talented and I love them all. They’ve really helped me start from a complete beginner to where I am now as a novice."
