Calls for calm after woman shot and house set on fire amid Tallaght gangland feud

There are calls for calm after an innocent woman was shot and a house was set on fire amid a bitter gangland dispute in Tallaght, south Dublin.

The woman was shot in the hip and leg area with a suspected pellet gun at around 10:10pm at Swiftbrook in Jobstown on Tuesday night.

The woman is understood to have presented herself to Tallaght Hospital on Tuesday night, and subsequently discharged herself this morning.

In the meantime a house was set alight in an apparent firebomb attack in the nearby Bawnlea area of Jobstown on Tuesday night.

A car was also discovered burnt out nearby - and there are now major fears of further attacks in a growing gang dispute. It is understood that nobody who was targeted in any of these latest incidents has any involvement in the feud.

Sources say the woman’s shooting occurred amidst an ongoing gangland feud between two rival drug gangs in the area that has seen a spate of violent incidents this year.
